End of summer: how to extend your tan and take care of your skin

Summer is coming to an end, but there's no need to say goodbye to your tan overnight. With the right routine, it's entirely possible to prolong it while pampering your skin after weeks of sun exposure. Here are our tips for a back-to-school season that still feels like a holiday.

1. Hydrate your skin morning and evening

Your tan resides in your skin cells: the more hydrated they are, the slower they renew, and the longer your tan lasts. A rich moisturizer, applied morning and evening, is the number one step to prolonging your tan.

2. Exfoliate in moderation

Contrary to popular belief, you shouldn't stop exfoliating your skin entirely, but space out exfoliation sessions so as not to speed up the elimination of tanned cells. A gentle scrub, once a week maximum, is enough to keep your skin soft without fading your tan too quickly.

3. Opt for nourishing oils

Vegetable oils (coconut, shea, monoi) deeply nourish the skin and give it a satiny effect that visually extends the glow of your tan, in addition to providing lasting hydration.

4. Avoid excessively hot showers

Very hot water dries out the skin and accelerates desquamation, thus the loss of your tan. Opt for lukewarm water, especially at the end of your shower.

5. Continue to protect yourself from the sun

Even after summer, it's important to continue applying sun protection during exposure, to avoid skin damage and preserve skin quality in the long term.

6. Take care of your diet

Certain foods rich in beta-carotene (carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots) and antioxidants contribute to good skin health and can help maintain a radiant complexion after sun exposure.

In summary

  • Hydrate morning and evening
  • Exfoliate in moderation, once a week
